SUPPORTING YOUTH IN RENFREW COUNTY

There are many ways to get involved with a non-profit organization. Here are just a few of the ways you can lend your support to Columbus House:

  • Volunteer (at our annual gala or at our bingo monthly)

  • Inquire about how to become a member of our Board of Directors

  • Create your own fundraising event, like the 'Sheena MackFall' annual golf tournament in support of CH

  • Become a sponsor at our annual Wine, Beer & Food Tasting Gala, or sign up to become a featured restaurant, winery or brewery

  • Make a charitable donation in honour of someone special

Remember, for a non-profit organization every contribution counts, no matter how small. If you are a small business owner with the desire to help but lack the funds to make a monetary donation, consider donating your services (renovations, for example), supplies for our residential program (new toiletries), or food for our annual graduation celebration. If you're a community-minded individual and an excellent planner, consider creating your own fundraising event in support of Columbus House, like a 5 km run/walk or bowl-a-thon.

While Columbus House receives funding from a variety of sources, we are a registered charity that relies on donations and fundraising to provide programs and services to our area's youth.

Our annual fundraising events

Our annual Baby Bottle fundraiser, which begins on Mother's Day and concludes on Father's Day, is in support of our Young Parent Support Program (YPSP). Baby bottles are distributed to participating parishes across Renfrew County, where parishioners bring them home and return them one month later filled with coins.

Every spring in Pembroke, golfers of all skill levels gather on the greens to enjoy a round of golf and support The Teen Compass Outdoor Leadership (for our residents) & Afternoon Skill Building Programs (for youth in our community) at the Sheena MackFall golf tournament. Money raised at this annual event funds the direct activity costs for the youth! Examples include canoe rental and park fee for our annual 4 day trip into Algonquin Park where youth are involved in team challenges and have the opportunity to practice their leadership skills! Please visit the Teen Compass page for more information.

Our annual Wine, Beer & Food Tasting Gala is our signature fundraising event, and continues to grow in popularity and scope year after year. '007', our 25th annual event, took place on Saturday, October 28, 2022, and raised more than $40,000 for Columbus House programs! To find out more about sponsorship opportunities, or how to get involved as a participating restaurant, winery or brewery at next year's event, please visit the ‘Coachella 2023’ page under events.
