An important health and safety update

Columbus House continues to monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in Renfrew County along with other transmissible diseases. We are grateful to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and Renfrew County District Health Unit (RCDHU) for the direction and leadership they are providing to inform our activities and services. Please know the health of our clients and all staff working with Columbus House clients are very important to us and we are providing the following information in response to substantiated facts. Listed below are the steps we are currently taking, and we are asking you to also please take, to support each other and our community:

All staff and visitors are recommended to wear a mask while indoors at the residential program. Screening of staff, residents, and visitors is required. Vaccinations are recommended against Covid 19 and policy in place for times of high transmission of all illnesses.

• We are following recommendations from PHAC and RCDHU and promoting rigorous hand washing and best practice hygiene measures with all staff, youth, volunteers, visitors, students, and children.

• All residents are being montitored for any changes in their health status on each shift

• Procedures are in place to notify RCDHU if any health issues arise

• Childcare is open at both Renfrew and Pembroke sites, parents and staff to self screen for Covid symptoms.

  • The Young Parent Support Program pivoted in 2020 to an outreach program with tremendous success. We are continuing this model.

• We will continue to keep you updated about our response to any updates we receive from PHAC and RCDHU that may affect your access to our programs and services .

Please take good care of yourself and others and seek out information from reliable sources. These procedures may change as warranted by the Province of Ontario or Renfrew County and District Public Health. Columbus House believes that receiving both doses of the COVID-19 vaccines approved for use in Canada is essential for the health and welfare of all of us.

Thank you on behalf of all of us at Columbus House.
